WHAT WE OFFER
Psychiatric Assessment Services for the Elderly (PASE) at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is a program that offers geriatric mental health assessment, consultation and education services. We provide treatment for people 65 and older. We offer:
Individual assessment to address patients issues through social work, nursing, and/or psychiatric input
Education, liaison and support for caregivers, involved professionals and community agencies
Psychogeriatric Resource Consultant (PRC) services
Recommendation of treatment, services, strategies or case management
To access care through PASE, patients must be:
65 and older who have developed a mental health condition later in life
Be located in Peterborough, Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes or Northumberland county
Living in their own home or in a long-term care facility
The PRC also provides consultation services to employees in the long-term care sector.
Team members can travel to the patient’s home or long-term care facility, and satellite clinics are held monthly in Lindsay, Cobourg and Campellford and bi-monthly in Haliburton/Minden. PRC’s also take turns being available by telephone for consultation and can be reached toll free at 1-866-877-2910.
HOW TO REFER TO PASE
Referrals can be made by anyone, although there must be a family physician whose agreement with the referral is required. To access the PRC services, a working caregiver may call to consult around the case. PRC’s are not to see the patient, but support the healthcare team in their choices around assessment and treatment.
