WHAT WE OFFER
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) provides advance care for patients who require close monitoring due to the seriousness of their illness or due to the fact that their condition can change quickly.
ICU offers enhanced capacity for monitoring on a continuous basis for patients with medical, surgical and cardiac needs.
WHO WE ARE
The ICU is made up of an interprofessional team of care providers who are committed to providing expert, high-quality patient care, including:
Dietitians
Intensivists – Critical Care Physicians
Occupational Therapists
Pharmacists
Physical Therapists
Registered Nurses (RN)
Respiratory Therapists
Social Workers
Speech Language Pathologists
In addition, patients will have contact with additional support services such as laboratory, diagnostic imaging, environmental and nutrition services staff.
VISITING THE ICU
While PRHC offers open visiting hours, please note that visiting hours in the ICU may be restricted based on patient needs and condition.
Family members are encouraged not to bring any flowers into the ICU as the unit is a scent free environment, to check with the nurse before visiting a patient, to designate one individual as the contact person to phone and inquire about a patient’s condition.
