WHAT WE OFFER
The Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) rehabilitation therapy team offers assessment, consultation, treatment and education for those requiring assistance in regaining optimal function following an injury or illness. PRHC offers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation therapy.
The inpatient rehabilitation team is targeted to those patients requiring inpatient treatment for up to 60 days and serves adult patients who are recovering from:
Stroke
Neurological Disorders (Guillain Barre Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Peripheral Neuropathy)
Amputation
Orthopedic surgery or trauma
General disability (i.e. post-operative strengthening)
Our team develops individualized programs to meet the social and emotional as well as physical and personal care needs of our patients. Shortly after admission and assessment, patients are given an estimated discharge date. The patient, along with the family or caregiver and care team set goals to meet their maximum level of wellness and independence. During the patients’ stay they are encouraged to try a day or overnight pass home. Families and caregivers are encouraged to be involved with all aspects of care and therapy.
Our outpatient rehabilitation is intended for specific populations. It is not an OHIP funded physiotherapy or rehabilitation clinic.
