We are seeking a qualified General Neurologist and Stroke Neurologist to practice community neurology at our hospital, where they would be joining a growing Neurology program.

PRHC is a designated provincial District Stroke Centre, awarded Stroke Distinction by Accreditation Canada in 2018, providing delivery of TPA through TeleStroke Network.

PRHC is interested in further developing General Neurology as well as subspecialty Neurology Services. A hospital-based Neurology clinic for full time Neurologists has been developed and provides an excellent opportunity for Neurologists to come to the region and practice with minimum overhead. Neurologist services are also required for EEG, EMG, and sleep medicine laboratories.

PRHC provides overhead-free neurology outpatient clinic with neuroimaging and clerical support. There is an opportunity to grow a hospital-wide inpatient consultative service where the Hospitalist Service physicians are the MRP. PRHC also has EEG/EMG equipment and a technician on-site.

PRHC offers a full range of Diagnostic Services including five CT suites in the region with CT Angiography, Cerebral Angiography, Doppler services Nuclear Medicine, and 3 MRI units.

Our Integrated Stroke Rehab Unit is a 30 bed unit which includes 6 dedicated Acute Stroke beds, 9 Dedicated Rehab Stroke beds and 15 general rehab beds (MSK, Amp and other). The unit has a dedicated treatment space, a therapeutic dining area and an outdoor therapeutic space.

Position Qualifications:
• Currently registered with or eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Fellow Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
• EEG certification an asset
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing, staff, patients, directors, managers, and the community as required
• Strong leadership skills in an academic and hospital setting
• Evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment with excellent communication skills
• Eligible for staff privileges at Peterborough Regional Health Centre
• Evidence of ongoing continued medical education
