Peritoneal Dialysis

We are pleased to announce that Peterborough Regional Health Centre has been designated by the Ontario Renal Network as a Centre of Practice for Peritoneal Dialysis access. Our Regional Renal Program offers a dedicated vascular surgeon for peritoneal catheter insertions. Our Renal Team will provide timely access to assessment and follow-up care for pre and post procedures.

Adult patients that are currently receiving peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis or are followed in a Kidney Care Clinic can be referred to our program for peritoneal dialysis access interventions.

Services we provide include:

  • Dedicated PD clinic for pre and post-surgical assessments, education and follow-up

  • Timely assessment and dedicated OR time

  • Laparoscopic insertion of PD catheters (buried or exposed)

  • Laparoscopic revision or manipulation along with omentopexy and adhesiolysis of currently inserted non-functioning PD catheters

  • Exteriorization of embedded catheters
