FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 10, 2013

(Peterborough, ON) — Accreditation Canada, a not-for-profit organization that provides an external peer review process to national and international health care organizations, has boosted the Peterborough Regional Health Centre’s status to “Accredited with Commendation”. The higher ranking was achieved after the health centre provided additional evidence following the accreditation team’s visit and ranking in April/May of 2013.

In its revised decision, Accreditation Canada wrote “This achievement demonstrates your organization’s determination and commitment to ongoing quality improvement. We applaud your leadership, staff, and accreditation team members for their efforts and dedication to the provision of safe, quality health services.”

“We were very pleased with the news of our full accreditation ranking earlier in the spring. And we were cautiously optimistic that we had the additional evidence Accreditation Canada was seeking that could put us over the top.” said Alan Wotherspoon, Chair of the PRHC Board of Directors.

“This is fantastic news and I’m just so proud of everyone. This is a further shot in the arm to everyone here working hard to contribute to the care and comfort of our patients,” said Ken Tremblay President and CEO of PRHC.

The hospital provided further evidence to Accreditation Canada in falls prevention strategies for our ambulatory care clinics.
