Couple brings Paediatric Asthma/Chest Clinic and Upper Extremity Specialization

(Peterborough, ON) Peterborough Regional Health Centre is proud to announce the recruitment of Dr. Zoe Nugent, Paediatric Respirologist and Dr. King Wong, Hand and Upper-Extremity Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Dr. Nugent has opened a Paediatric Asthma/Chest Clinic operating weekly on Tuesdays. She is originally from England, is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, as well as a member of the Canadian Paediatrics Society, and American Board of Paediatrics certified. Dr. Nugent completed her medical degree at University College London, her Paediatric residency at the Hospital for Sick Children in 2011 and moved on to complete a fellowship in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine in 2014.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Nugent’s specialty at the hospital and adding a  brand new Paediatric Asthma/Chest Clinic,” says Dr. Alan White, Chief of the Women and Childrens’ Program. “The clinic will provide allergen skin prick testing and pulmonary function tests for children; services never before offered at PRHC.”

“We are committed to supporting our patients through the bold priorities (strategic directions) we’ve set out for ourselves,” says Ken Tremblay, President and CEO. “Delivering new specialized services vital to Peterborough residents is exactly what you can expect from us.”

“The warm welcome that we’ve received has truly exceeded our expectations, and we are quickly getting settled into the health centre and the Peterborough community” says Dr. Nugent. “We are both thrilled to be here and to be a part of two wonderful new services being offered at PRHC. We have hit the ground running with our remarkable teams,” added Dr. Wong.

Dr. Wong joins us from Grey Bruce Health Services and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of Canada, Orthopaedic Surgery. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of Toronto in 2012, followed by a Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Orthopaedics at the University of Buffalo.

“We are very excited to have an upper-extremity specialist join us at PRHC," says Dr. Bill Meade, Chief of Surgery. “He will focus on conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.
