Registered Nurse - Birthing Suite

The RN, as one of the providers of health care, has a unique role in promoting health, in preventing illness, and in helping clients attain and maintain the highest level of health possible. S/he is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients, with predictable and unpredictable outcomes who may or may not be clinically stable. The RN practices in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
High risk pregnancy and fetal monitoring education preferred.
Recent Birthing Suite experience preferred.
Post-graduate Obstetrical Diploma asset.
Current Operating Room and Post-Anaesthetic Care knowledge/experience would be an asset.
One year recent obstetrical, antepartum, paediatric, neonatal experience preferred.
Current BCLS and NRP
Current PALS asset.
Breastfeeding Certificate.
Post-partum parent support program education.
Agreement to participate in MOREob program
Added Nursing skills specific to A6 and Labour and Delivery
Excellent ante/post-partum, neonatal and paediatric assessment skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of high-risk pregnancies and fetal monitoring.
Excellent labour, fetal and newborn assessment skills.
Demonstrated interest in the philosophy supporting combined care, client choice and family centredness.
Demonstrated commitment to positively supporting the Unit values of “Caring”, “Respect”, “Client Advocacy” and “Team Work”.
Knowledge of adult education principles would be an asset.
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
Excellent verbal communication and written documentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with patients (infant/child/adolescent and adult), families, staff, physicians and the community.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in
