The RN, as one of the providers of health care, has a unique role in promoting health, in preventing illness, and in helping clients attain and maintain the highest level of health possible. S/he is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients, with predictable and unpredictable outcomes who may or may not be clinically stable. The RN practices in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Experience in a Hemodialysis Unit preferred.
Nephrology Nursing Certification preferred.
Completion of the Post Diploma Nephrology Program preferred.
Current BCLS certification required.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education.
CNA nephrology certification or commitment to attaining certification within 2 years
Demonstrated experience in an acute care setting.
Evidence of knowledge in Cellular Homeostasis, Endocrinology, Physical Assessment and Nephrology preferred.
Well-developed physical assessment skills.
Have good knowledge of Meditech preferred
Basic computer and keyboarding skills including Microsoft Word and Excel would be an asset.
Must be willing to adapt to new technology
Must have the ability to work well independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in using time effectively
Ability to work in stressful situations.
Demonstrated ability to work well with patients who have a chronic disease, their families and all levels of staff in the community.
Demonstrated good communication skills including evidence of strong documentation skills.
Good health teaching skills.
Demonstrated good attendance record
