THE CURRENT SALARY IS: $29.36 - $41.70 per hour

The RN, as one of the providers of health care, has a unique role in promoting health, in preventing illness, and in helping clients attain and maintain the highest level of health possible. S/he is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients, with predictable and unpredictable outcomes who may or may not be clinically stable. The RN practices in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards.

The scope of the Operating Room nursing practice takes in those nursing activities that assist the individual surgical patient in a conscious or unconscious state. These activities are directed toward providing continuity of care through pre-operative assessment and planning, intra-operative intervention and post-operative evaluation.

The following are requirements or qualifications which are special to this position:
Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
 Post graduate OR course or Perioperative Nursing Certificate and recent OR experience preferred.
 Current BCLS.
 Good verbal and written communications skills.
 Good interpersonal skills.
 Demonstrated knowledge of OR environment, procedures, instruments and equipment.
 Psychomotor dexterity that demonstrates a potential to perform complex skills in limited time periods.
 Demonstrated ability to deal with personal stress and stressful situations in a constructive manner.
 Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
 Demonstrated accountability and responsibility.
 Good teaching and leadership skills.
 Good organizational skills.
 Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
 Available to work all shifts and standby.
 Demonstrated interest in continuing education.
 Basic computer skills.
 Demonstrated ability to maintain a good attendance record
