Your Hospital Stay

Arrival Information

When you arrive at the hospital, please proceed directly to Admitting/Registration, located just inside the Main Entrance. Please present your valid Ontario Health Card and insurance information upon your arrival. Admitting is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Discharge Information

Please note that our discharge time is 10 a.m. We recommend you arrange for a friend or family member to take you home after a hospital stay. Please make sure you have all of your belongings and hospital cards, as well as aftercare instructions and prescriptions as needed. It is important that you understand all instructions about your medication, diet, activity and return appointments. If you are unsure about anything, ask your health care provider before you leave.

What to Bring to Hospital

We hope you had time to prepare for your stay by packing a few personal items. If not, please talk to a staff member who will help make arrangements to get what you need. You may also purchase items from our Retail Pharmacy or Gift Shop, located just inside the hospital's Main Entrance.

All you need for your stay at PRHC are your pyjamas or nightgown, a bathrobe, slippers (with non-slip soles) and toiletries (such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, brush or comb). Please leave valuables at home; PRHC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Smoking

PRHC is a completely smoke-free environment, including all hospital grounds and parking areas.

Parking is provided on the hospital site. Please see here for parking rates and information. Parking fees collected at PRHC support patient care.

Hospital Security
All physicians, staff and volunteers must wear photo identification. If you do not know who an individual is, please ask to see his or her identification.

Patient Accounts

The Business Office is located inside the Admitting department, at the Main Entrance of the hospital. You may pay your account upon discharge by Interac, cheque, cash or credit card (Visa or MasterCard). After hours or on weekends please pay at Admitting/Switchboard, located in the Emergency Department.

When paying a patient account, please remember to bring your:

Please note that you will be required to pay in full any charges not covered by OHIP.
