Visitor Guidelines

Visiting hours at PRHC are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, 365 days a year.

PRHC encourages visits from family and friends throughout the patient healing process. We know that having loved ones nearby while in hospital makes patients more comfortable and speeds up their recovery.

We ask that only two visitors be bedside at any one time to be sure roommates have the rest they require. (Ask about access to “common areas” for visits of more than two people). Please keep noise and activity to a minimum. Individuals who are feeling under the weather, including a cough or cold, are asked to delay visiting the Health Centre until the illness has passed.

Visiting hours may be extended or restricted in any hospital area, dependent on patient needs and condition. The guiding principle for all visiting hour decisions is to maintain a balance between the patient’s need for effective care and the importance of visitor support to the patient’s recovery. Units may, at their own discretion, in individual cases, exercise flexibility with the standard hours and number of permitted visitors.

Each patient may have two visitors at a time. Ask about access to “common areas” for visits of more than two people.
Visits should be kept short
Please keep noise and activity to a minimum
Individuals who are feeling under the weather, including a cough, cold or diarrhea, are asked to delay visiting the Health Centre until the illness has passed.
Children are welcome to visit when accompanied by a parent or guardian, though young children (under the age of 12) should not visit patients in isolation. Please note: a child is considered one visitor
Visits should never be scheduled during therapy or treatment times
Special visitation needs of each family will be assessed and accommodated as required
The privacy and healing environment of all patients and their families must be respected at all times
Wash your hands before and after every patient contact, before and after eating, and after using the washroom
Special instructions may apply to those visiting a patient in particular areas of the hospital, such as Intensive Care. Please speak to a member of the health care team for more details
