Protecting Patient Privacy

Peterborough Regional Health Centre is committed to protecting your privacy. In order to provide you with the best possible care, it is important that we have access to your personal health information.

We collect, use, disclose, retain and protect your information in keeping with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (2004).

You have the right to know how we may use and give out your personal health information and how you can get access to it. Hospital staff are not allowed to collect patient's personal health information where it is not necessary, or to collect, use or give out more information than is necessary.

You may ask to access and/or correct your personal health records, or to remove your consent for some of the uses.

As part of our Privacy program, we have ongoing privacy education programs and campaigns for staff, patients and visitors, as well as a designated Privacy Officer for PRHC.
