As part of the Central East Stroke Network, Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) was designated as the District Stroke Centre for the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) region in 2005.
In 2012, PRHC physician Dr. Derek Krete was appointed Regional Medical Director of the Central East Stroke Network.
PRHC provides stroke services across the continuum of care, supporting patients in Haliburton, the City of Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, Peterborough, and Northern Hastings County.
The District Stroke program also works with hospital and community partners to support and deliver Best Practice Recommendations in all phases of stroke care.
