Services - Domestic Violence Program

The Domestic Violence Program provides care to individuals who are living with domestic violence. A group of specially trained nurses called the Domestic Violence Response Team is available twenty-four hours a day through the Emergency Department at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. The team provides the following services:

  • Emergency and follow-up medical care for injuries.
  • Collection of information (evidence) that could be used in a criminal investigation, if you wish.
  • Crisis emotional support.
  • Safety planning.
  • Arrangements for you to talk to the police, if you wish.
  • Information about any or all of these areas.

None of these things will occur without your consent.

The Domestic Violence Response Team can give you the information you need to make the decisions that are right for you. We work together with other community services to offer emotional support and assistance through the legal process. We have a fulltime Domestic Violence Follow-up Nurse available for safety planning and assistance with referrals.
