The B4 Medicine Unit consists of 32 acute medicine
beds. This inpatient unit specializes in the care of acute stroke patients and
is the site of the district stroke centre. Every B4 nursing staff member has
received specialized training in providing care and services to the stroke
population.
The B4 medicine team at PRHC consists of a dedicated
group of health professionals. Our staff includes physiotherapists, occupational
therapists, speech language pathologists, social workers, registered dieticians,
RNs, RPNs, patient flow facilitators, physicians and clerical support staff.
Our extended health-care team includes community
partners such as CCAC case managers and Community Care Peterborough.
B4 offers secure unit capabilities for wandering
patients and provides specialized beds for the
Geriatric Assessment Intervention Network (GAIN) clinic crisis admissions.
The B4 team meets daily to discuss and support the
needs of each patient admitted to our unit.
