Peterborough Regional Health Centre's state-of-the-art service provides a full spectrum of care for those living with kidney disease living in the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge, and Peterborough City/County Region.
Nephrology and dialysis services are available for patients with either acute renal (kidney) failure or end Stage Renal Disease (ESRD-chronic kidney failure). The Dialysis unit is a key component of PRHC’s Regional Renal Program, which cares for patients with a whole range of kidney diseases. This treatment replaces the function of the kidneys when they have stopped working. Our new Dialysis centre with new state-of–the-art equipment allows us to monitor patient treatment ensuring the highest quality of care. Services provided include:
Individuals admitted into PRHC with kidney disease receive care in the specialized Nephrology-medical unit. Off unit peritoneal dialysis is provided by specially trained nurses.
The program operates two satellite centres at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Coburg, Ontario, and Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario, to provide renal services to residents close to their homes.
