Maternal Child Services provides care for three types of patients; women who are pregnant, newborn babies and children from birth to 18 years of age.
Within these groups, the following services are offered:
- Pregnant women are offered a range of services throughout their pregnancy, during the birth of their baby and following the birth of their baby.
- Special Care Nursery is a Level 2 nursery that provides care for newborns who require specialized nursing care, including those who are born as much as eight weeks early. Well, full-term babies are cared for on the maternal child unit with their mothers.
- Paediatric service provides medical and surgical care for children from birth to 18 years of age.
Outpatient services include a paediatric outpatient surgery unit and a breastfeeding clinic run in conjunction with the PRHC's Women's Health Care Centre.
Maternal Child Services is responsible for the coordination of the following within the Health Centre:
- Labour and Delivery
- Maternal Child Care Unit
- Special Care Nursery
- Paediatric Pre-Op Clinic
- Paediatric Surgical Outpatients
- Breastfeeding Clinic (Women's Health Care Centre - Charlotte St)
