Departments & Services - Inpatient Rehabilitation


The Stroke/Rehabilitation units at PRHC are supported by an interdisciplinary care team that has developed expertise in providing care and service to adult patients recovering from:

  • Stroke
  • Neurological Disorders
    • Guillain Barre Syndrome
    • Multiple Sclerosis
    • Parkinson's Disease
    • Peripheral Neuropathy
    • Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Amputation
  • Orthopedic surgery or trauma
  • General Disability i.e. post operative strengthening

The Rehabilitation program is targeted to those patients requiring in patient treatment for up to 60 days. Individualized programs are developed to meet the social and emotional as well as physical and personal care needs of our clients. Shortly after admission and assessment, clients are given an estimated discharge date. The client, along with the family or caregiver and care team set goals to meet his/her maximum level of wellness and independence. During the patients' stay they are encouraged to try a day or over night pass home. Families and caregivers are encouraged to be involved with all aspects of care and therapy.

The care team includes: Physiotherapists and assistants, Occupational Therapists and assistants, Speech Language Pathologist (Dysphagia), Rehab Nurses, Social Worker, CCAC Case Manager, Physicians, and Clinical Nurse Educator.

Consultant services provided by: Dietitian, Pharmacist, Prosthetist and Neuropsychologist.
