The goal of this program is to provide recommendations, education and guidance to assist the organization in preventing and controlling infectious diseases, managing personnel health and safety concerns related to infection control.
This is accomplished through surveillance, problem identification, review of hospital acquired nosocomial infections, data collection and analysis, intervention through changes in policies and procedures, teaching and consultation.
Specially trained Infection Control Practitioners work within the program to meet its goal.
