The Endoscopy unit provides diagnostic procedures for conditions of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract (bowel and stomach), including surveillance for cancer, ulcers, polyps, and irritable bowel syndrome.
What we do:
- Colonoscopy (lower Gastrointestinal tract test)
- Gastroscopy (upper Gastrointestinal tract test)
- Other gastrointestinal procedures
- Bronchoscopy (respiratory test)
What to Expect
- Prior to your procedure, you will have a health assessment completed by a nurse.
- During this assessment you will be informed about your procedure and provided with both verbal and written instructions for your care after discharge.
- At the completion of your procedure, you will return to recovery area where a nurse will continuously monitor your recovery until you are ready for discharge. All of the staff working in this area are experienced in the recovery of patients after conscious sedation.
- Please have arrangements made for someone to drive you home and to stay with you overnight.
