At Peterborough Regional Health Centre, the Cancer Care team provides a multi-disciplinary approach to the assessment, treatment, follow up and support of cancer patients and their families. Our program works in partnership with the Durham Regional Cancer Program in an effort to provide cancer services closer to home.
Services Description:
We provide:
- Services for patients in the Peterborough, Haliburton, and Kawartha Pine Ridge areas
- Cancer assessment, counseling, and follow up
- General Practitioner of Oncology supervision
- Chemotherapy treatment
- Radiation and Medical Oncology services provided three times per week by visiting Oncologists from RS McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Clinic (RSMDRCC)
- Supportive care through telephone contact for patients and their families
- Information and education regarding cancer prevention, screening, early detection, cancer treatment/management of side effects and available cancer care services
- Social Work and Nutritional assessment and support
Clinic Staff Includes:
General Practitioner of Oncology, Visiting Medical and Radiation Oncologists from Durham, Registered Oncology Nurses, Social Work and Dieticians. Our team also includes a very supportive and knowledgeable volunteer support staff, along with many community partners such as the Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice Peterborough, Peterborough County - City Health Unit, and the Peterborough Community Access Centre.
