Departments & Services - Adult Outpatient Program

Overview

The Adult Outpatient Program offers treatment for those coping with a mental illness and when appropriate, to their families. Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a wait to be seen?
Yes. You will be contacted about the referral and asked to provide some information at which time you will be given a better idea of the wait that may exist for that particular treatment or service.

What do I do if I am in crisis?
Crisis services are available through Four County Crisis Response Program at (705) 745-6484 (call for current hours of operation). Crisis services are also available though the emergency department at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

Is there a fee?
There are no fees to attend our Service for people with a current OHIP card. You are asked to bring your OHIP card with you to every appointment.

Who will see me?
Depending on your needs you will be referred to a professional clinician who is a member of our multidisciplinary team. You will want to know the professional background of the person you see.

Who decides what treatment I will receive?
You and the person who sees you will determine an individualized treatment plan with recommendations for a best fit with services, whether in the Adult Outpatient program or to another agency in the community.

What kind of therapy will I get?
It depends. Some people may need group therapy, some will need individual, some will need a single consultation, some will need crisis intervention. We will help you to focus on creating a plan to make and follow through with the right connection.
