The Acute Pain Management Service team consists of professionals from the Departments of Anesthesiology and Nursing who have specialized training in pain management.
We will be asked to be involved in your care if you are an inpatient who will require a patient controlled analgesia (PCA) device, an epidural or a nerve block. While you have one of these, you will be seen daily by a member of this multidisciplinary team to assess your needs.
Our goal is to decrease the amount of pain you are having so that it does not interfere with your ability to walk and deep breathe and cough, allowing you to complete the necessary physiotherapy to recover from your surgery more quickly.
